Q. What do you think? Do you think your use of cell phone during instruction time has any impact on your learning?

A. I think this is true because if your texting during class your not learning what was taught that day and you’ll be behind in class and everyday you text you fall more and more behind. Pretty soon you’ll be way to far behind the class.
I think my use of a cell phone during instruction time has no impact on my learning because most of the time when I text, I text in a class that i am ahead in. So, i am not falling behind in class.

my name means lots and lots of things.My name is Raymond Edward Percell.Raymond Edward is my grandpops, Edward Raymond Batzig’s name backwards and my moms gave me my great grandpop, Billy …. Batzig’s last name to pass over.So that’s my name and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Race
I’m a lot of races.I am Black, White, Spanish, Irish, Swedish, German, and Dutch.Eight different things.I’m a mutt, but i’m proud to be one.Most of my race comes from my mom’s side.Everything but me being Black and Spanish.Anyway now you see why I am what I am.

Showers
Everyday I take a shower and in my showers I day dream, sing , and go what ever I do to be me.Another thing i’m doing in my showers is when i get in I look down at my smudgy feet, washing yesterday away.Thinking about everything that had happened that day and my glasses.Ever since I was ten years old the shower had been my own place of solitude, My own place to escape.

My House
1614 Hewson St, my house.A three story house full of six wild, crazy family members of all ages.All of us having our own problems locked inside like a message in a bottle and not letting them out.There has been so much drama in this house I think we all know it’s rely our house.Plus I think this house has it’s own personality

My Skates
I was ten when I got my first pair.When I got them I was determined to get them down as any ten year old would do.But, one day I was riding, I triped, fell, and busted my lip.After that I was done with skating for about a year.

1. The king sat above two doors, on a pillar with his princess.Under them behind the doors was the prisoner and if he have had made the right choice of the lady.Then, there would if been a parade for the marriage under the doors too.

2.The tiger was made to confuse you so it was always placed in different doors.But, sometime it was place in the same door to trick you.

3.The princess didn’t like the lady behind the door because she feel in love with the person on trial, she had dreams that the person on trial had connections with the lady, and because the lady was beautiful.

4.The princess told her lover to open the door on the right because I think she thought anything was better then death so she would rather let him be with someone then to die.

5.The princess seen her, the lady in her dreams with her lover and lady had a great connection together.

6.Yes because they, loved each other and he knew that she would do what’s best for him.

7.Because all of their eyes where locked on her lover.

1. I think the Germans chose to hang a few prisoners in public at a time because want to test the Jews trust. If the Jews are trust worthy the Germans can use them for other reasons.

2. Elie’s relationship with his father changes throughout the book. It starts when His father gets beat up by the German, Elie didn’t do any thing to stop it, and i think it just escalates from there.

3. It was a significant act of his father to give Elie the knife and spoon after he was chosen for selection because it was the last things he owns and is a gift to his son when he thinks he is going to die there. When Elie says,”The inheritance” he means that it’s the last gift his father gave him before he died.

4.Elie’s experiences at Auschwitz effected his faith by far, I think just like his feelings for his father change the feelings he had for himself changed too.

5. The German causes a stampede on the cattle train trip by forcing the other prisoners to run each other over.the incident suggests that the German is a cruel person for doing this and as for the prisoners are just trying to survive no matter what what happens. Even death.

6. When Elie’s regarding his father when he thinks he’s dead weight and a great help to his father but then at the same time he is having problems with himself because he wants to survive but he also wants to help his father survive.

7. on January 28, 1945 Elie’s father was beaten up for asking for water and begging,then the next morning he was gone. At this time Elie and his emotional state is going crazy.

8. when Elie said when he looked in the mirror after liberation, he sees a corpse gazing back at him. And hen he says, “The look in his eyes, as they starred into mine, has never left me” he meant that his whole personality and believes changed along with his feelings for himself.

9. Elie’s story was different from Moshe’s because it wasn’t as long, it wasn’t filled with just the facts, and he wasn’t very poor.So, no one felt as if he was trying to get petty off of it.

10. Elie made the book title, Night was because after the first night in camp everything was just another big long night.

1. Passage:”At six o’clock the bell rang. The death knell. The burial. The procession was about to begin it’s march.”Form up! Quickly!” (80)

Reaction:I felt sorry not just for the Jews but for every one who fell victim to the Nazis. I also felt as if I where there getting ready to march by the command of the Nazis telling us Jews to march, the Jews getting tired of listening to them, and planing to make an uprise.

2. Passage:”The searchlights came on. Hundreds of armed SS men. Rose up out of the darkness,accompanied by sheepdogs. The snow never ceased…
The gates of camp opened. It seemed that an even darker night was waiting for us on the other side”. (80)

Reaction:I wish I was there to stand by the Jews to defend them against the Nazis. If I was there I would probably be killed the first day because I would rather take some Nazis down with me and be killed then stand by,do nothing, and get tortured by Nazis.

3. Passage;”I was putting one foot in front of the other mechanically.I was dragging with me a skeletal body which weighed so much.If only I could have got rid of it! In spite of my efforts not to think about it,I could feel myself as two entities-my body and me.I hated it.I repeated to myself:”Don’t think. Don’t stop. Run”Near me,men were collapsing in the dirty snow. Shots.”(81)

Reaction:It makes me sick to know that the Germans where so cruel to the Jews. But,I think Elie could get through anything he puts his mind to because he has courage.

4. Passage:”work is liberty”(43)

Reaction:I choose this passage because it stood out to me,it stood out to me because it very confusing. But,I started saying this saying in my head over and over again.A couple days later I think I got it.I think it means without work there is no world. Without work there is no freedom. Without work there is no justice. Without there is nothing.

5. Passage:”At my side marched a young Polish lad called Zalman. He had been working in the electrical warehouse at Buna. They had laughed at him because he was always praying or meditating on some problem of the Talmud.It was his way of escaping from reality, of not feeling the blows…”(90)

Reaction:This passage makes a lot of sense to me because this passage seems just like middle school. Zalman is like the weird new kid who gets bullied everyday for being different and the others are like the bullies who picks on kids like him,on the weak.

6. Passage:”An endless road. Letting oneself be pushed by the mob; letting oneself being dragged along by a blind destiny”.(83)

Reaction:This passage discusses me because it makes me think about how many people died during the Holocaust. Sometimes I wish I could just close my eyes and make these things away.

One day…
I saw the synagogue.
Full of deportees, Polish territory
had been taken charge by the Gestapo.
they went to one Jew to another,
the Gestapo through babies into the air,
Without passion,
and without haste.
They used them as targets.
This was the beginning of the Holocaust….

1. Elie describes himself as a very religious, understanding Jew.

2. Moshe the Beadle is a poor, humble, and a wise man who never had a sunshine in his life. But,was full of work at a hasidic synagogue. No one believes him because they think they’re a scam to make people feel pity for him.

3. When Moshe told his stories to the town they didn’t believe a thing he said. They thought that he was trying to make he feel petty towards him.

4. Elie begins the book Night with Moshe the Beadle because he is one a good memory in his mind and because Moshe is like Elie’s role model and when his father died he was most likely thinking that if Moshe can get through it so can I.Also, he most looking forward to seeing Moshe the Beadle out of al people he had left.

5. Steps on how the Germans slowly took over Sighet. V down here V

1. They moved into the houses and became friends with the Jews.
2. They started getting power. For example: police officers.
3. They started making laws for the Jew’s and limited their belongings.
4. They put they in Ghettos and separated them from other Germans with a brick wall.
5. They took the Jews to camps and did things like lighting them on fire and shooting them.

6. Elie’s family gets seperated when Elie and his family gets ordered to getting deported for the first time, getting out and getting into fives, when they started marching by the German’s orders they where ordered to separate into men and women, and Elie was forced to go with his dad and no one else because the rest of his family was women.

7. The Germans took away the inmates’ personal belongings because they didn’t know what they had ,had with them.It could of been guns, knives, or even bombs hidden with other things in the Jew’s bags. The Germans took the Jew’s clothes away, cut their hair, and tattooed a number on each person’s arm because I think that they knew that things would get as bad as it did or even worse!

8. When he says, “one long night”, he means nothing will be as bad as his first night in the camp and he’ll remember that forever.

9. I think the novel is awesome. It makes me connect with Elie, like I know him as one of my friends, as if I was in the story right by his side with him, and at the same time I feel so bad for what the Germans did to the Jew’s.

A long time ago…

Zeus had been frightened that this moment would come for decades.So, he gathered his two sons, Hercules and Ares before him to fight by his side.He told them about the up coming event.Ares was so terrified, he started, training night and day for 20 days.Hercules had no doubt in his mind that hes was the best and couldn’t be stopped.Ares on the other hand now felt confident but worried.So, he went down to Earth to gather some soldiers, went back up to Mount Olympus, and started training them as hard as he could.Then, he said,” Hades is planing to take control of Earth and if he does all hope is gone.So, we need to train are hardest and fight are best are you with me. and the soldiers still amazed by Mount Olympus yelled “yeah”

The next day, Zeus, Ares , Hercules , and Earth’s noble soldiers where now ready to fight off Hades. Zeus with his lighting bolt, Ares with his spear, Hercules with his sword and shields, and also the noble army with their swords and shields.All ready to go and fight for whats theirs.They all to Earth.Zeus said,”follow me”in a kind and gentle voice and he ripped a whole in Earth’s ground leading to Hell where they meant Hermes, the guide to the Underworld and another son of Zeus.The group following Zeus walked up to Hermes and he gave them an evil, but funny laugh. Then he gather them on his boat and took them slowly across a skull fulled body of water.When they got to the other side Hermes said,”Good luck your gonna need it.Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha”.After, they walked up this, as it seemed never ending hallway with dead, decaying soldiers that tried to beat Hades laying all around the floor with flies swarming them in the hallway.

Finally, at the end of the hallway was Hell and in the middle was Hades him self and his parter.Sitting next to him was Eris, the god of chaos.Hades said”Zeus my brother you can’t stop me now I already summoned my army up to Earth”.”Why are you doing this”. Zeus said replied.At that moments Thanatos, the god of death rose out of Eris which he almost never did.But, he was ready to fight.Then, Hades said,”Sick’em”and a gigantic slobbering three headed dog came out of a cave right behind Hades.This time he was stronger and bigger then before when he lost a fight with Hercules.Hercules stepped out and said,”Father this fights mine”.Then he jumped up behind the beast dog, ran up it’s back, and chopped one of it’s heads off!Hercules jumped off the beast and called the soldiers to help and while he was talking to them the cut off head grew back and Hecules and the soldiers charged at Cerberus and their fight went on…

While the worriers and soldiers from Olympus and Earth where fighting in Hell.Earth wasn’t the same any more.Earths worriers had to fight at least five hundred evil minions of Hades.Earth worriers were dieing by the hundreds.

Back down in Hell Thanatos stood up from which he sat, started to slowly walk towards him, Ares push him back lightly, and said,”Father this fight is mine”.They started fighting< swords and shields clanking together.Hades stood up, Zeus started to walk towards him, when a Cerberus head flew between them.Zeus and Hades stopped for a minute and keep walking towards each other.Hades called out,"Brother are you ready" and Zeus answered,"yes brother".Know that if he loses Earth is Hades.They both swung.They hit each others sword and making sparks that went towards Thanatos.The sparks landed on the long black ripped up robe of Thanatos, causing it to lit on fire and burning him to ashes in a quick action.Ares in relief sat on Hell’s floor he rested, his arms felt as if had been torn apart.

Now,Hercules and the soldiers fighting Cerberus.Hercules jumped up on it’s back and swung at it’s heads with all the energy he had left in him, cut a head off two of it’s heads, and they where growing back Cerberus stomped on the grounds of Hell.It shook all of Hell and Earth’s ground.Then, Cerberus stomped a second and third time.Zeus and Hades fall to the floor.Hades groped his sword into the flames of the Underworld and because of Cerberus Earth’s floor started to crack and rain down big pieces of Earth’s ground called rocks.Causing the very first earthquake! A giant rock fell on Cerberus and the brave soldiers, killing them, another fell on Ares and killed him, and a third one fell on Hades and killed him.

The noble people on Earth where also saved but, ruined by this earthquake.It killed all the demons but, destroyed everything along with it.

Back down in hell, Zeus and Hercules ran over towards the hallway and jumped in the hallway as rock fell behind.just making it they ran down the hallway ignoring the decaying bodies because of the rocks.They meant up with Hermes again.Zeus had a single tear running down his cheak.He said,”Ares is dead” and Hermes started to cry as he rowed the heros across the water.As if Hades had a cruse on him and when he died he was free again.When they got across the water Hermes went with them and they all rest to get ready for their next fight with Hades that would happen between 10 to 2 years later…..

Dear Collier,
The text in the book, “Marigolds” was perfect, I understood all of it I think most if not all of my peers felt the same way about the text as me.

I think and hope you write another story with the text just as great as this one.I am looking forward to reading another one of your books.Because i rarely understand a book if i read it by my self but after school I went home and reread and i understood it completyand not like any other book.Any way, i think you should write more books with the text like this and im looking forward to reading more!
